Howl-O-Scream part2

So in my recent post my family and I went to Sea World to check out what Halloween stuff they had for the kids. Well my hubby and I went back with some of his co-workers to check out the "adult" part of the whole Howl-O-Scream. There were 3 different "mazes" for the adults. The first one we went to was Jack's Haunted Forest. That one by far was the best maze they had. We saw people taking their little kids in strollers, which we thought was just wrong. Talk about traumatizing your kids at a young age. We probably won't ever let our children go to these things until they are maybe in middle school, and that's only if I know they understand what's real and not. But, to each his own. The forest was pretty good, they had a lot of great actors and costumes. The second one we went to was the one next to the Great White rollercoaster. It was not really scary at all. It was more like a "fun" house. There's this one room you walk through where it looks like you are walking on a bridge as the room looks like its spinning. I had to block everything out and focused only on the wooden platform or else I would have puked my turkey leg everywhere. Then the last one was near Steel Eel. It was another forest one. That one was good too. I mean it's not going to be as long as the other haunted houses all over SA, but it was good entertainment for us. Here are some pictures via HTC phone.

That's his excited face :)

This was in the "fun" house one

The scariest thing I saw was the mini-Michael Jackson

The tall dude was creepy, but after seeing this pic, I think the clown looks even creepier

Loved this kid's mask!!!

She was pretty cool in the dark

We also topped the weekend off with a small pumpkin carving party with one of our neighbors and just a couple of friends. Nothing big, just a more intimate gathering to catch up on some things and what not. I'm really paying for it now... I am extremely tired and still sore from my core workout from Friday :( I really kicked my own butt. But I'd rather be sore than sorry. Click on the tab called "My Work" for some of the pics from the pumpkin carving. Till next time people..... Have a blessed day :)

SeaWorld with the kiddos

Okay, so we went to Sea World this past Saturday and ventured out to see the attractions and what not. They had a lot of things for the kids, however one thing we did not get to do was the FantaSea maze. The line was crazy long, so we figured we'd try it another day. We did go through "Counts Unhaunted Castle" which the girls liked. When we finished the castle, Destiny realized she forgot her purse. When we got it from one of the workers, her money was no longer in there. It's just unfortunate how you can tell it's a little girl's purse with it being Hello Kitty. But also, when you open her wallet, the first thing you will see is one of those cards that your picture was drawn on from Chuck E Cheese. So who ever took her money must know they took $34 from an 8 year old little girl who received her money by making good grades, and still had money saved from her birthday. But here are some pictures of us at Sea World....

So over all, we had a great time. The kids enjoyed seeing Sea World being decorated for Halloween. We are deinitely going to have to come back another time at night with some adult friends to walk through Jack's Forest. Jack's costume was amazing!!! The girls kept saying how his mask looked so good. They weren't scared of him at all. Now if they would have seen him at night, that might have been a completely different story.  Stay tuned for the part 2 (the adults SeaWorld trip)....

Getting it in

So I just took my finals for my first class yesterday, and I didn't do how I wanted/thought I would do. But I'm happy with my grades and just trying to see the positive in any circumstance that comes. I'm still currently waiting for my grades to be posted where as many of my friends from other classes have already received their final grades. Don't ask me what's with the delay. I've been wondering that for a while...

Anyway, after finals a couple of friends and I went to Lulu's Bakery. I always passed by it on my way home from school, and I've been wanting to try it out because it's not a chain. It's known to be one of the oldest bakerys here in SA. So as a food fanatic, I just had to go try it out. Walking in, I noticed this huge picture of this HUGE CINNAMON ROLL! When I say huge, I mean 3lbs!!!! I couldn't see it in myself to order it without my family there. They are also known for their country fried steak. HUGE!! (I guess everything really is bigger in Texas, because these things were GI-NORMOUS!) Again, I just couldn't order anything "spectacular" without my family. So I ordered 2 breakfast tacos and coffee, while my other friends ordered breakfast plates.

So this is one of my tacos. I thought they would be smaller, but they were bigger than I thought

This was Will's plate. Elisha's plate came in blurry (pictures via Thunderbolt phone)

This was the cinnamon roll. Of course I couldn't leave without asking another table if I could take a picture of their roll. There were 6 adults at this table, and let me tell you, I don't think they were able to finish this. This seems like a challenge for yours truly!!

3 lbs

So of course, I meet up with David and I'm so eager to show him this 3lb cinnamon roll I just witnessed, and he just starts laughing..... and then the sarcasm came out. Sooooo, he's been wanting to take me to this place because he and I just love places like this where they're famously known for something, and here I am, going without him. LMBO. Poor guy, lol, when we were in Japan, I got to experience the Ice Bar without him. (It's literally a bar with Ice everywhere... They supply you with a thermal jacket and gloves before going in) And now I went to this place without him. Ooops! LOL I couldn't stop laughing needless to say and I am still laughing as I'm typing this.

So my verdict.... I give this place a 3 for now. That's because I didn't try the fried steak and cinnamon roll. My tacos were decent. They served Will some extra crispy hashbrowns, but Elisha's turned out ok. The atmosphere is a diner feel to it. This will get revisited in the near future so I can give it a fair rating. Overall experience was a 3 though.

Bitter Sweet

Definitely a bittersweet kind of moment. I love my clinical class. Definitely a great group, and wish I can continue through school with all of them in my clinicals. But it was sad to say goodbye to some patients today especially after knowing they don't have many visitors (if any at all) come by to see them and just give them the kind of company they want, going towards their own "crossroads." But I have definitely learned a lot and taking a lot with me on this journey I've begun. After class, we all went to Tourquise, a Turkish restaurant. YUM!!! I didn't even get to take a picture of the baklava since I was being a pig and dove straight into it. Here are a few pictures of your future RNs :)

So, since I love food so much, this blog wouldn't be a blog if I didn't share my food photos. I didn't get to take as many as I had hoped because once the food came out, all I kept thinking about was eating :-T
I LOVE CARBS!!!!

The place we ate at was really good, however I must say I have had better baklava at a Greek restaurant off of Military and 90 near Lackland Airforce Base called Mina & Dimi's. OMG!! Their baklava just melts into your mouth as fireworks start popping everywhere. It's definitely the BOMB DOT COM! And the rice at this restaurant we went to seemed to use an instant rice name brand like Uncle Ben's. But the red cabbage was great, had a slight tart crisp that was a perfect contrast for the lamb. Overall rating for this restaurant is a 2 out of 5. Did I eat it all? Yes. But If you want a better bang for your money, I'd go to Mina & Dimi's. Their food is wonderful and definitely a 4.5 rating in my books! Not a full blown 5 only because the space capacity is smaller, and the baklava isn't always there because they run out so quickly :-T

That's all for now kids, till next time.....

DE-STRESS!!!!!!!

Okay, so I'm a nursing student and just near the end of my first class for this flex (Each flex is 8weeks long). I have been so stressed out about quizzes being due, nursing care plans, quiz, exam, and now finals!! Arrrrrgh! I went into severe anxiety attack *LITERALLY! I had to leave my clinical early last Saturday because I felt like I was going to puke my brains out as my eyeballs were going to shoot out of my head. I have never in my life experienced a migraine until Saturday. So after class Monday I was supposed to "be disciplined" and go home to study. But my family was going to the zoo, and since I've started school and I've had clinicals all day on Saturdays, I've been feeling like I've been needing some good ol' family fun. I ended up going to the zoo with them, and I had a blast! It was exactly what I needed to help myself to de-stress. I felt instantly lighter. Talk about instant gratification! Here are two of my fav pics from the trip of the animals I captured.

Notice his purple wound? Poor guy. I felt his pain, except mine was in my head. Felt like I could have puntured a hold in my forehead to release the tension I was carrying. I felt like I had a great connection with him :)

So this is Ears "The Elephant"
He was very chill and reminded me how I need to be once in a while, especially when my body is calling for me to.

Getting ready!

It's "THAT" Month!!!!

Halloween is coming soon! For those of you who know me on a more intimate level, know that it's one of my fav (if not my fav) holidays to celebrate! We get to dress up, make creative food, and just try to scare the poop out of teenagers who swear they aren't scared of anything!!! We did a haunted house at our previous home when we first moved to San Antonio.

It was pretty awesome for it to just be a "treat" for the neighborhood kids. I also usually like to throw a "Pumpkin Carving Party" near Halloween to get the kids in the neighborhood together, and to build relationships with our neighbors. We supply the carving tools and little snacks here and there (we try to get as creative as possible, but on a budget at the same time because I can get a little carried away) while the kids just bring their own pumpkin. But this year, I must say, I am more excited about taking the girls to Sea World for Howl-O-Scream! I think I'm more excited for myself though LOL.
